This is my final piece for the 2D project. The premise of this project was to communicate a recipe without using words though an illustration.
My final illustration was created with children’s book illustration in mind, so I decided to show the quantities abstractly by illustrating different spheres of ingredients that show to quantity of each ingredient in comparison to each other. I illustrated these hovering over a magical cauldron. The process of baking the cherry flapjacks was enjoyable so I tried to capture that through my use of colours and the swirls surrounding my ingredients. We were given the choice of the ratio during this project, so I chose to use a three by one ratio to demonstrate the cooking process from the ingredients at the top, cooking pot and fire in the middle and the final product at the bottom.
I chose to create this illustration using a warm colour scheme with an accented rusted copper pot in the centre, I think the addition of a blue toned item to this illustration really brought the whole illustration together and made the composition come to life.
