- PROJECT CONCEPTS-

Idea 1: Hans Christian Anderson

For this project the aim would be to create one/two illustrations for a Hans Christian Anderson story. I would like to do this for at least four of his short stories, then I would also like to create a cover for the book which would contain these illustrated storied within it. This project is intended to improve my children's book illustrations as this is an area I am very interested in.

Idea 2: Art Competitions

For this I looked on the internet and found a set of competitions that I would like to take part in, these projects would be shorter than my usual projects so I can make the deadlines. I may also enter others if I can find more that have not started yet.

Idea 3: Endangered Species

I am very passionate about nature, animals and the environment, so I would like to create a series of illustrations highlighting how I feel about the climate crisis and it's effect on our wildlife. I am unsure whether I would like these to be created as posters to raise awareness or as a set of illustrations which would be a part of a children's book which discusses the way the climate crisis is changing things in a way that children could understand, as a way to introduce the younger generation to the issues facing our planet and the animals that surround us. I would also like this to be UK based as I feel our native wildlife is often overlooked in comparison to polar bears and tigers (basically the animals you see in adverts on the television).

Idea 4: Sketchbook

This isn't an idea with an elaborate concept but I would like to keep a sketchbook through this summer and fill all of the pages, I have bought an A5 Sketchbook so my aim is to fill it and upload all the pages to a webpage once it is complete. I may also build upon this to create more resolved illustrations based upon my sketches.

Idea 5: Improvement

This would be a part of any of the projects that I chose to do, but as Dwayne said in feedback I should work on improving how I work with my chosen mediums. Therefore I would like to dedicate time to working on improving my dip pen (ink) skills, as well as how I use watercolour. For this I intend to use LinkedIn Learning, YouTube Tutorials, looking at other artists and learning from their styles, and The Famous Artists Course pdfs that Dwayne provided a copy of for improving the actual illustration for the form and movement of my subject.

Lighting

Another thing I would like to work in it my use of lighting, I am currently working through a drawing light and shadow course on LinkedIn Learning. But these are a few examples of how lighting has been used in films that I enjoy. This is something I would like to incorporate into my illustrations.
